Top executives from the leading franchise companies across Canada gathered at the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) National Convention held at the Westin Prince. Day two of the three day conference, which included roundtable discussions and keynote presentations by franchising experts, culminated with the presentation of the CFA Award of Excellence which recognizes franchise systems who excel in franchisee-franchisor relations.
Franchising since 1987, and with 112 retail locations, Expedia CruiseShipCenters was recognized as one of three finalists in the “Traditional Franchises Mature / Established” category for the second consecutive year. This follows the company’s achievement of becoming the first ever franchisor to win the impressive accolade two years in a row in 2006 and 2007, in addition to being selected as a finalist in 2008 and 2009.
“To be recognized by the CFA as an elite company for the fourth straight year is a significant accomplishment”, said Michael Drever, CEO & Founder of Expedia CruiseShipCenters, who was in attendance for the announcement. “Equally important is that this award also represents the voice of our Franchise Partners who have invested in and followed our system to also make us a travel industry leader.”
The finalists are chosen based on the results of a survey of franchisees conducted by Ryerson University's School of Retail Management and must demonstrate superior franchisee relations, teamwork and communication. “We are driven by continuous improvement and innovation,” says Drever, “We use the results of the survey as a benchmark and a compass to ensure that we provide a world-class system to our Franchise Partners.”
