Cruise specialist Expedia CruiseShipCenters in one day booked $9.1 million worth of cruises, a feat the company says has never been accomplished by any other cruise retailer. The milestone was achieved during a one-day sale event on June 16. CruiseShipCenters' previous best was $6.5 million in sales, which it reached in 2006. 114 franchise locations and 2,500 cruise consultants participated in the sales event, who owe part of their success to CruiseShipCenters' preferred relationship with Princess Cruises, said CruiseShipCenters' president and CEO Michael Drever.
CruiseShipCenters first launched its one-day sale events back in 2005, as a promotion to showcase cruising's appeal beyond the Caribbean.
